Exceptional quality and beauty. Absolutely love it!
Well, I was surprised to receive this item as it is quite small. My fault for not reading the sizing and dimensions. However, it is pretty and can hold some of my smaller jewelry pieces like rings and tennis bracelets.
Friendly customer service, reasonable price, speedy delivery, and high quality! Doesn’t get any better than this
I have a friend who loves peacocks, so I am always on the lookout for peacock items for her. When I had an opportunity to order this little box for review, of course I was curious. It could have been just a kitchy item you would find in a souvenir shop, but instead, it is a beautiful piece of hand craftsmanship. The mother of pearl is inlaid on lacquered wood using traditional designs from Korea. The lid is not hinged, but fits the box well, and the size is perfect for just a few rings or earrings. It is also a perfect size for business cards.Although some reviewers seemed to be surprised at how small the box is, I looked at the seller's site, where there are also many other mother of pearl items, and the size is made very clear. Although I didn't find any flaws in the box i received, it's important to recognize that this is hand work and each piece is somewhat unique. I was also surprised at some comments about the price. Frankly, it seems to be a bargain if the store is being honest about the box being handmade. Although the box has been mass produced in the sense that there is one design that is probably used for hundreds of boxes, I consider the people who choose and then inlay the tiny pieces of mother of pearl to recreate the design, to be craft artists in their own right. If the original artist had also cut and inlaid the mother of pearl, and it was a one-of-a-kind work of art, it would be worth much more, so we are fortunate to be able to have such a piece at such a modest price.
I have another box similar to this and just love the sheen of MOP. My other one has flowers on it, but I just love the peacocks on the top and on the inside all the sparkly chips of mother of pearl. Just to be honest here, I write with fountain pens when I journal and my favorite fountain pen to write with is solid mother of pearl - I love the deep sheen of it! This will hold a few of my rings and that's all I want - a pretty box to hold some jewelry!
